This About us page explains what the IPTV Schweiz Guide is, how the guides are written, where the statements come from and where the limits lie. Who runs the website and how to reach them is in the imprint.
01
About us: what this guide is
The IPTV Schweiz Guide answers questions about IPTV for the Swiss market: how the technology works, which services are licensed, what copyright law says and what to look for in a subscription, an app or a device. Each language version is written for its own region rather than translated word for word, because search terms and the legal position differ from region to region.
The overview IPTV Switzerland is a good place to start. The site is for information and is not legal advice.
02
How the guides are written
Every guide follows the same rules:
- A page answers one question and has its own main topic. The same question is not answered on two pages
- Statements that can be checked carry a source, listed at the foot of the page under "Sources"
- Prices, channel counts and features are given only with a date and a source, mostly the provider's own page
- What cannot be proven is left out. Where a reliable price is missing, we point to the developer or provider
- Every page shows its update date and is revised when laws, prices or offers change
03
Where the statements come from
The table sums up which kind of statement comes from which kind of source:
| Topic | Source | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Statute text | Fedlex, the Confederation's official publication platform | Copyright Act, Unfair Competition Act |
| Reading of copyright law | Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IGE) | Statements on streaming, downloading and uploading |
| Channel counts, features | The providers' own pages, with a date | Swisscom, Sunrise, Salt, Zattoo |
| Consumer law | State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) | Right of withdrawal, price indication |
| Apps and devices | Statements of developers and manufacturers, app stores | Smart IPTV, TiviMate, Google TV Streamer |

No ranking: criteria instead of lists of names
A list of the "best" providers would be out of date within weeks, and many such lists earn a commission on sign-ups. The guides give you criteria to check any provider yourself instead, for example in Best IPTV provider in Switzerland.
05
Disclosure: the operator sells its own IPTV plans
The operator of this website also sells its own IPTV plans; prices and terms are on the IPTV pricing in Switzerland page. These plans are not part of the comparisons in the guides. The checking criteria nevertheless apply to them expressly: imprint, final price in francs, term, cancellation, payment method and refund should be as checkable for the operator's own offer as for any other.
06
What this guide is not
It is not legal advice. The guides summarise the general legal framework for a non-legal audience and take no account of your individual case. If you face a concrete situation, such as a warning letter, you need a lawyer who specialises in intellectual property.
Names such as Swisscom, Sunrise, Salt, Zattoo or SRG are trademarks of their owners. They are used to describe offers and do not indicate any connection with those companies.
07
Reporting an error and corrections
If you spot an error or an outdated statement, report it through the Contact page. Name the page and the statement, ideally with a source. Corrections appear with a new update date on the page.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Who runs this website?
The operator's name, address and contact are in the imprint.
Is this guide independent?
The operator also sells its own IPTV plans, and that is disclosed. The guides publish no ranking, back their statements with primary sources and apply the checking criteria to the operator's own offer as well.
Where do the prices come from?
This guide does not quote third-party prices; it points to the providers' own pages. The operator's prices are on the pricing page.
Is there a list of the best IPTV providers?
No. The guides explain how to check any provider instead, and name the licensed services with their source.
Is this guide legal advice?
No. It summarises the general legal position. For your individual case, turn to a specialist.
