Four names cover most legal live TV over the internet in Switzerland. They look similar on the shelf and differ in what is included, what costs extra and what ties you to a contract. This post puts the figures from their own pages side by side (state: October 2026) and says who each fits, without ranking them.
01
Swisscom vs Sunrise: the two big operators, plus Salt and Zattoo
The table uses the plan each provider presents as its main TV offer. Swisscom has five blue TV plans, so the mid-range blue TV L is shown; the full list is in Swisscom blue TV subscriptions explained.
| Swisscom blue TV L | Sunrise TV (Up TV L) | Salt TV (Salt Home) | Zattoo Ultimate | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Channels | 330+ | 280+ | 300+ | 408 |
| Replay | 7 days | 7 days | 7 days, as an option | 7 days |
| Recordings | 2,000 h | 2,000 h | "Recordings Max" option | 2,000 recordings |
| Several TVs at once | Up to 5 TVs with the Multiroom Max add-on | 5 simultaneous streams; an extra TV Box for a second TV | Multiroom option | Up to 4 parallel streams |
| Needs an operator contract | TV subscription is tied to a Swisscom internet connection; the app also works without Swisscom internet | Up TV L comes with Sunrise Up Home; Up TV M with a Sunrise mobile or internet plan | Salt Home bundle (internet, TV, landline) | No; cancel monthly |
02
How each service sells TV: bundles, boxes and add-ons
This blog does not quote prices, because they sit inside different bundles and promotions and change often. What each provider's own page says about how it sells TV, and where the current price is shown:
- Swisscom sells five blue TV plans, S to XL Streaming, with a promotion for new customers and some conditions tied to a blue Internet subscription
- Salt shows its Salt Home bundle (internet, TV, landline) with the TV Box included; the promotional conditions depend on whether you also have a Salt mobile plan
- Sunrise gives no separate TV price on its TV page: Up TV L is part of Sunrise Up Home subscriptions
- Zattoo Free is a permanent free tier; Premium and Ultimate start with 30 free days and can be cancelled monthly
03
Who each service suits
A short matching guide, based only on what the providers state:
| If you... | Look first at | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Already have Swisscom internet and follow football | blue TV XL Sport | Swisscom lists blue Sport as included, with all Champions League matches |
| Are a Sunrise customer | Up TV L or Up TV M | TV Box and app come with the plan, five streams at once |
| Want one bundle with the box included | Salt Home | The Salt TV Box is included with Salt Home |
| Do not want a long contract | Zattoo Premium or Ultimate | Cancel monthly, no operator needed |
| Mostly watch SRF, RTS or RSI | The SRG players | Free, funded by the licence fee |

Sport, foreign-language channels and extras
Sport and language channels are where the offers diverge most. Where to watch live matches is covered in live sport on TV in Switzerland; Albanian, Portuguese, Balkan, Spanish, Turkish and other packages are compared in foreign-language TV in Switzerland.
05
How to decide in ten minutes
Work through these steps in order:
- Write down the ten channels you actually watch and check each in the provider's channel list
- Check which operators can connect your address and what the internet part costs
- Add the extras you really need (recordings, a second TV, sport) to each total
- Look at the contract: minimum term, notice period, what the price becomes after a promotion
- If you are unsure, try Zattoo's free month or the free tier before committing to an operator bundle
06
What this comparison leaves out
It does not rate picture quality, support or reliability, which differ by address and over time, and it leaves out regional cable operators. It also ignores unlicensed services entirely: an offer of thousands of channels, premium sport included, for a few francs is a warning sign, as the guide to IPTV scams explains.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do I compare what Swisscom, Sunrise, Salt and Zattoo cost?
Compare the total of internet plus TV for your address on each provider's own page. The operators sell TV inside internet and mobile bundles with promotions, while Zattoo sells TV alone and can be cancelled monthly after a free month. Prices change, so this blog leaves them to the providers' pages.
Do I need an operator's internet to use its TV?
Swisscom says its blue TV app also works without Swisscom internet, and blue TV Air is free. Sunrise offers Up TV M with a mobile or internet plan, and Salt TV is part of Salt Home. Zattoo needs no operator.
Can I cancel Zattoo any month?
Zattoo states monthly cancellation for Premium and Ultimate, with 30 free days to start. Operator TV follows the contract of the connection, so check the minimum term.
How many channels does each offer have?
Swisscom 150+ to 330+ depending on the plan, Sunrise 280+, Salt 300+ and Zattoo up to 408, according to their pages in October 2026.
