Italian is one of Switzerland's national languages and a foreign one for many who live here. The channels exist on lawful services, with a catch: rights differ between Swiss and Italian feeds. This post lists what Zattoo's channel overview names (state: October 2026) and how to check it.
01
Italian TV in Switzerland: the Swiss channels first
RSI is the Italian-language arm of the SRG. Zattoo's overview lists RSI La 1 and RSI La 2, and regional stations of Ticino such as TeleTicino and a Radio Ticino channel. The SRG's live streams are limited to Switzerland for legal reasons, as watching Swiss TV abroad explains.
02
Rai channels in Zattoo's overview
Zattoo's channel overview names these Rai channels:
- Rai Uno, Rai Due and Rai Tre
- Rai 4, Rai 5, Rai Movie and Rai Premium
- Rai Sport, Rai Storia, Rai News 24 and Rai Scuola
- Rai Gulp and Rai Yoyo for children
03
Mediaset, La7 and others
The overview also lists Canale 5, Italia 1, Rete 4, Italia 2, 20 Mediaset, Mediaset Extra, TgCom24 and Cielo; La7 and La7 Cinema; TV8, NOVE, DMAX Italia and Real Time; Sky TG24, Sportitalia and TV2000; and Euronews in Italian. Check the plan column for each: the Free column is shorter than the Premium and Ultimate ones.
04
What you will not necessarily get
A channel in the list is a feed licensed for Switzerland, not a copy of what Italy sees: some programmes, above all sport and big entertainment shows, can be replaced or missing for rights reasons. For football, see live sport on TV in Switzerland.
05
How to choose
A quick route:
- Write down the channels you actually watch and look them up in Zattoo's overview
- Use the free month to see whether the Swiss feed carries your programmes
- For Italian-language children's TV, look at Rai Gulp and Rai Yoyo in the list above
- For a package in another language, see foreign-language TV in Switzerland
